Rice Krispie Snowmen

Suitable from 1+ years and a delicious kids Christmas treat

These Rice Krispie Snowmen are such a treat for Christmas time, the kids will go wild for them!

The Rice Krispie Snowmen themselves are made with just mini marshmallows and butter - that's it! Then to create the snowmen features I just added some sesame seeds for the eyes, a small piece of carrot for the nose and some chocolate chips for buttons.

As they contain sugar, as cute as they are they should be treated as a treat for babies over the age of 1, and they are a great Christmas treat for young children, big kids and adults! If you love these Rice Krispie Snowmen and you would like to make something similar for weaning, then try these Cheesecake Snowballs which are great for BLW (baby led weaning).

Makes 3 - 4 Rice Krispie Snowmen

Rice Krispie Snowmen

Ingredients

  • 50g Rice Krispies

  • 70g Mini marshmallows

  • 30g Butter

  • 30g Desiccated coconut

  • 1 small piece of carrot

  • A few black sesame seeds

  • A handful of Chocolate chips

  • A little maple syrup or honey

Method

Heat a little butter in a saucepan over a low heat, once melted add the marshmallows and stir continuously until they have melted and combined with the butter

In a mixing bowl, combine the Rice Krispies and the marshmallow and butter mixture and use a wooden spoon until everything is well mixed

Use clean hands to scoop out a little mixture and create 6 - 8 balls, half being smaller than the others. This part will get a bit messy so squish the Rice Krispie mixture together hard once its on your hands then make a rolling motion to create the balls

Roll the Rice Krispie balls into the desiccated coconut

Place the smaller balls on top of the larger balls to create the snowman, you can use a little honey or maple syrup so it sticks a little more

Add the sesame seeds for eyes, a tiny piece of carrot for a nose and chocolate chips for the Rice Krispie Snowman's buttons, again you can use a little honey or maple syrup to help them stick
