Chicken Shawarma

Updated: Sep 26, 2022

Suitable from 6+ months with BLW and a Family Favourite

This is a surprisingly simple recipe which is perfect for introducing your little one to some gentle spices such as cumin and paprika. You can start giving baby spices from 6+ months.

You can substitute the chicken thighs for breast in this recipe but I just love hoe juicy the thighs are - they are also more forgiving if overcooked and pretty difficult to dry out.

Serve this recipe with a refreshing side salad and warm pitas or rice, delicious!

Serves 4

Chicken Shawarma

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken thighs

  • 1tsp turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp dried coriander leaf

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 2 tbs Greek yoghurt

Method

Preheat oven to 200c

Put all of the ingredients into a large bowl and mix well. Allow the chicken to marinade in the fridge for a few hours or at least 30 minutes

Layer the chicken into a rectangular casserole dish and bake in the oven for 45 minutes

Slice and dice the chicken and serve with warm pitas and a salad of your choice
